Here are 5 simple suggestions, if you want to photograph the skies:
Be alert: Look up and around now or then, or out of the windows.
You never know when the sky is up to something spectacular...
Be quick: Sky formations are unstable and may completely vanish minuts later.
If the sky looks interesting, it is now or not...
Be patient: Sky formations mutate all the time. Snap a shot, then wait!
Most likely a better variation will appear within minutes...
Be aware: Most skies are overexposed, lacking contrast and color.
Try adjust this with your imageprocessing software...
Be careful: If the sky suddenly turns green..? Forget about photography
and run for the hills; a storm coming, a tornado around the corner...
